Jon

Diving Instructor

Jon Wright and Yara Tibiriçá run the diving and activities centre in Nuarro. Yara and Jon look forward to showing you the sub-aquatic wonders of Nuarro!

Jon was born in the UK and learned to dive in Southern Ireland in 1991, becoming a PADI instructor in 2004, an IANTD technical/trimix instructor in 2008, CCR instructor in 2013 and instructor trainer in 2015. His passions are closed circuit rebreather (CCR), cave, wall and wreck diving. As well as teaching and guiding dives, Jon ensures that all the associated equipment is maintained to a high standard, so you can “breathe easy” as you enjoy the reef! He is also a highly qualified and experienced skipper, with thousands of hours at the helm of a wide variety of boats in many locations around the world under his belt.

Yara

Marine Scientist

Yara is a dedicated marine scientist who is passionate about every sea creature, from humpback whales to the smallest and weirdest critters. She has been diving since the age of 15 and became a PADI dive instructor in 2005, an IANTD trimix diver in 2009 and CCR diver in 2013. She is currently doing a PhD on her favourite animals, the butterflies of the sea – nudibranchs, and loves to share marine biology stories with like-minded people.

Afonso

Chef Cook

Afonso is the chef cook. He comes from the Memba district. He has had experience in many different Mozambican 5 star resorts. With his team he knows to surprise every guest, every day with his amazing culinary delights!

Benildo (Beny)

Reception

Benildo (Beny) is coming from the area, he has been working from the start of the project. He is in charge of the reception and is studying Human Recourses. He is speaking Portuguese, English and Macua.

Lauren

Reservations

Lauren is South African and has been a dive instructor and lodge manager for the past 17 years, in places ranging from the Caribbean to Africa, including Mozambique and Malawi. She is responsible for Reservations.

Trienke

Co-owner / Marketing / Sales Manager

Trienke is Dutch, one of the owners and has been living in Africa for 16 years, of which 3 of those years were in Mozambique. She heads up the sales and marketing team of Nuarro lodge, based in Durban, South Africa.
